Ceramics

The octopus ceramic staged is one of my ceramic projects that I created while in class. To date, it is the largest student creation ever fired in the kiln at my former school. The octopus features 7 limbs (the 8th one was broken off ) and is colored in a royal purple with white crystal splotches dotted throughout. The project was created with the intention of putting it in an art show to bring awareness to the warming of the seas and the coral reefs being damaged.

Multiple techniques were used to create the octopus. Firstly, it was imperative that the clay remain as hollow as possible in order to avoid blowing up in the kiln. With that in mind, the head was sculpted over a bucket and then later attached to the body and legs which were slipped and scored together for the finishing touches. The matte paint job for the bottom of the octopus helps to sharpen the royal purple color on the octopus’s exterior.

Purple Minion (Despicable Me) Teapot

This is a teapot that is filled from the top of the head. Where the minion’s head is, there is a detachable top that allows a user to pour hot coffee through. You can then pour a glass through the minion’s gun on its right hand. Near the left end of the minion, it is holding a remote controller attached to a jet pack on its back. Every part of the teapot is pure ceramic.

GAME DEVELOPMENT

As a passion project, a close friend and I are developing an original game that allows players to travel into a completely new world never seen before. With incredibly in-depth lore and story behind every crevice in our game, players can get lost in a world built on crisp game design and art to captivate audiences.
